QU signs MoU with Libyan Academy for Postgraduate Studies

Qatar University (QU) and the Libyan Academy for Postgraduate Studies sign a MoU yesterday in the QU campus. As part of the MoU, the two parties will exchange information, experience, including bulletins, periodicals, studies, statistics and data, as well as organizing conferences, meetings, and training and cooperation in the field of research.

QU President Dr. Hassan Al-Derham and Academy President, Dr. Ramadan Al-Madani were on hand to sign the agreement in the presence of a number of university and academy officials.

In his speech on this occasion, Dr. Hassan Al-Derham, President of Qatar University, stressed the importance of this agreement as the first agreement signed by the university with a higher education institution in Libya, noting his pleasure at being able to collaborate with the Libyan Academy, offering expertise from QU’s side for the benefit of all. He stressed that QU was established in 1973 as one college and then developed to include several colleges in 1977 and then expanded to include 11 colleges offering more than 100 programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He also talked about the university's plans and strategy towards entrepreneurship after establishing the QU Holding Company.

For his part, Academy President, Dr. Ramadan Al-Madani, spoke about his institution, which offers graduate programs and teaches more than 5,000 students at its headquarters in Tripoli and 16,000 students studying in its 13 branches across Libya. The academy encompasses eight schools, including the school of administrative and financial sciences, applied science and engineering, basic science, humanities, language, media and arts, medical sciences and strategic and international studies. The Academy currently offers 117 master's majors and 44 doctoral majors, and offers its programs in several languages, including Italian, French, Spanish, English and Arabic.
