The world has experienced many pandemics however, none has impacted more than the COVID 19 pandemic which has drastically changed the way we live, work and play and caused immense economic losses to countries and put tremendous stress on the healthcare and medical services.
Asian countries including China, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Cambodia that were among the earliest to be affected by the COVID-19 have managed to control its spread and limit the loss of lives. This success is a result of healthcare preparedness and treatment and stringent enforcement of movement control, isolation, quarantine, social distancing and the wearing of facemasks.
It is imperative that Nations come together to share information, experience, best practices and SOPs in a holistic approach in prevention, mitigation and minimize loss of lives. It also calls for a coordinated approach to the development and production of therapeutics and vaccines in a speedy manner.
