UNS Library Donates Books to Residents of Sombu Village, Wakatobi, Southeast Sulawesi

UNS — The Library Unit of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta donated books to the residents of Sombu Village, Wangi-Wangi District, Wakatobi Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. This donation is part of the UNS Community Service Program (KKN).

The KKN program by UNS collaborates with the Wakatobi Regency Government, deploying 13 KKN students and one Field Supervisor Lecturer (DPL) for a month and a half, from January 16 to February 29, 2024. The symbolic book donation was handed over to Isac Da Costa De Jesus, a Management undergraduate student representing KKN UNS, in the Head of UNS Library office on Friday (19/1/2024).

Sri Utari, S.E., M.A., the Coordinator of Training, Education, Research, and Community Service at the UNS Library, stated that through this book donation, they hope to enhance literacy in the KKN area. The UNS Library received book donations from the UNS academic community and the wider public. The donated books will be distributed to schools, reading parks, stakeholders who request donations, and the reading parks under the supervision of the UNS Library.

“The reading parks supervised by the UNS Library include the Dalem Pasinaon Slogohimo Wonogiri Reading Park managed by Dhiya Restu Putra and the Pungsari Plupuh Sragen Reading Park managed by Muhammad Rohmadi,” Utari explained. HUMAS UNS
