Omah Anyam UNS Team Holds Sociopreneurship Program, Assists Local SMEs in Ngunut Village, Karanganyar

UNS — The Omah Anyam team from the Faculty of Agriculture (FP) at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta implemented the largest sociopreneurship program in Indonesia, titled Innovilage 2023. Innovilage is a sociopreneurship competition in the field of digital technology aimed at students throughout Indonesia. It is organized by PT. Telkom Indonesia and Telkom University. Innovilage encourages students from all over Indonesia to actively participate in addressing various community issues through the development of digital applications aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Recognizing the potential of SMEs in Ngunut Village, Jumantono Sub-district, Karanganyar Regency, the Omah Anyam UNS team carried out a program titled “Empowerment of Local Product Business Groups in Ngunut Village based on Technosociopreneurship through Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) towards a Smart Village.” This community empowerment activity took place in Ngunut Village, Jumantono Sub-district, Karanganyar Regency. The Omah Anyam UNS team conducted a socialization and focus group discussion (FGD) to map and analyze local superior products on Friday (5/1/2024) at the Ngunut Village Hall. The socialization and FGD involved the Family Empowerment and Welfare (PKK), the Income Improvement Business Group of Acceptors (UPKKA), the Local Product Business Group (KUPL) of Ngunut Village, the Jumantono Sub-district Head, the Asia Council for Small Business (ACSB) Karanganyar, and the Integrated Service Center for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (PLUT-KUMKM) Surakarta.

The event was officially opened by the Sub-district Head of Jumantono, Karanganyar Regency, Gunawan, S.E., M.M. On this occasion, it was stated that the steps taken by FP UNS students were commendable. Furthermore, he emphasized the need for appropriate strategies, assistance, and evaluation to enhance the superior products of Ngunut Village, especially in supporting the increase in the village’s and the community’s income.

“Hopefully, there will be mutually beneficial activities, and in the future, there will be more empowerment activities to provide more comprehensive knowledge and experience for the community,” Gunawan said.

The chairperson of ACSB Karanganyar, Wahyuti Subagia, sees the potential in Ngunut Village through the development of SMEs. “Ngunut Village has potential in terms of agriculture and SMEs that can be developed and improved. Through the synergy of partners, Ngunut Village’s SMEs can be widely marketed through the local and national sectors,” Wahyuti said.

The Chairperson of the Omah Anyam UNS team, Alvien Gusti Prasditio, socialized the Innovillage program carried out in Ngunut Village. As a supporter of the local economy, Ngunut Village has superior products from local SMEs that have the potential to drive the welfare of the local community. These flagship products include family medicinal plants (Toga), processed banana products, mocaf flour, cowhide crackers, and tempeh chips. KUPL serves as a platform for superior products in Ngunut Village, supported by an incubation center.

“Efforts to improve Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in SMEs are an important step to ensuring the quality of the products produced. GMP involves a series of standard procedures for the production and distribution of goods, covering aspects of cleanliness, safety, and compliance with regulations. The implementation of GMP not only improves the production standards of SMEs but also enhances their competitiveness in an increasingly competitive market,” Alvien said.

A consultant from PLUT-KUKM Surakarta, Ida Juwita Sari, S.E., emphasized that the standardization of local flagship products that will be marketed widely needs to adhere to applicable regulations. “Starting from finished products to semi-finished products, standardization such as PIRT and BPOM is needed. Regarding product packaging, it also needs attention to align with market segmentation and product safety,” Ida said.

The Omah Anyam FP UNS team has developed a program schedule according to the predetermined timeline. The team’s activities include socialization and FGD, training and mentoring on product development and techno-socio-preneurship, digital marketing training, marketing and bookkeeping, monitoring and evaluation, as well as assistance. In this program, a Business Clinic will also be established through KUPL in Ngunut Village. Therefore, it is expected that Ngunut Village can develop as a competitive SME center and make a positive contribution to the local economy. HUMAS UNS
