13 Outstanding Alumni Receives Awards from UNS

UNS — In commemoration of its 47th Dies Natalis, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta gave awards to 13 outstanding alumni. This award was given at the Open Session of the UNS Academic Senate, Saturday (11/3/2023).

The Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho appreciated all alumni who have been selected to receive this award. This was conveyed at the Inauguration Night of UNS Alumni Achievement Award 2023, Friday (10/3/2023) evening in the Ballroom of the Ki Hadjar Dewantara UNS Building.

“I appreciate these outstanding alumni because it is not easy to get this award. Moreover there is a team of judges who strictly assess the track records of fellow alumni. They have taken part both regionally, nationally and internationally. Hopefully UNS alumni can continue to carry out productive activities with the best work and have a sense of pride for UNS,” he said.

Secretary General of the UNS Alumni Association (IKA), Eko Nugroho also appreciated the achievements of the 13 alumni.

“I hope that this achievement can be passed on to younger students and alumni who have just graduated so that there will be more UNS outstanding alumni in their fields,” he said.

Meanwhile, the determination of the 13 outstanding alumni was listed in the Rector’s Decree Number 185/UN27/HK/2023 dated 15 February 2023 which was read by the Vice Rector of UNS for Planning, Cooperation, Business and Information, Prof. Sajidan at the Inauguration Night event.

Mohammad Yasir as the awardee of the outstanding alumni award admitted that he was very proud to be selected as an outstanding alumna from FIB. He is an alumnus of the Arabic Literature Study Program who studied in 2013-2017.

 “I and other alumni certainly feel very proud and honored because UNS has chosen us. I am sure, all alumni must have achievements in their respective fields. This award is an honor and a responsibility for us, hopefully it can be a good motivation for fellow students,” he said via teleconference on the night of the inauguration.

He also advised alumni and students to have a sense of pride and love for the UNS almamater because currently UNS is one of the best tertiary institutions in Indonesia.

 “I hope that UNS will progress and develop so that it can be of benefit to the nation and country. On behalf of the alumni, I would like to thank you,” he concluded.

A similar sentiment was expressed by an accomplished alumna from FKOR UNS, Dinda Ayu Sekartaji. She said that UNS played a very big role in his career.

“Thank you for the full support from parents, friends on campus, and lecturers. Without UNS, I am nothing. Hopefully UNS will progress further and we, alumni, can continue to make UNS proud. Please also pray because in May 2023, we will go to Cambodia to take part in the Asean Para Games, hopefully Indonesia can defend the overall championship title,” the trainer for Indonesian para swimming said.
