As explained by Dr. Nasser that early detection is key to diagnosing diabetes; Because early treatment can prevent serious complications, when the problem of a persistent and high level of blood sugar above normal levels is detected, early detection increases the possibility of effective changes early in the disease development process that takes time over time. Doctors and patients can take steps to prevent permanent damage to the heart, kidneys, eyes, nerves, blood vessels, and other vital organs. Early detection creates an opportunity to treat high blood sugar, the risk factors for heart disease that often appear with diabetes.

In turn, Dr. Hassan Anwar Rathore, Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, said: “Diabetes is high blood sugar levels for long periods due to the body’s inability to utilize the glucose present in the blood. This can happen due to the reduced ability of the pancreas to produce adequate amounts of insulin, the hormone that helps transport glucose from the blood into cells, where it can be used for energy production or stored in various forms as an energy reserve. It is worth noting that more than 17% of the adult population in Qatar currently suffers from diabetes.”
